The Token Engineering Commons (TEC) is a community-governed decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) dedicated to advancing the field of token engineering to enable the creation of new economic realities.

  • Token engineering is the interdisciplinary process of designing, verifying, and optimizing token-based systems through the integration of engineering and system design principles, cryptography, economics, and computer science to create trustworthy, efficient, and sustainable token-based economies.

  • A commons is a shared resource accessible to all community members, requiring collective stewardship to prevent overuse and ensure sustainable and equitable access for both current and future generations.

Our goal is to become a schelling point for the token engineering community.

  • Economic Layer: Fund projects that discover, develop, and proliferate best practices for engineering safe tokenized economies, while aligning our collective success with the individual benefit of token holders.
  • Social Layer: Unite the token engineering field around ethical principles, standards, tools, and methodologies as this nascent field advances.

Values

Our Commons operates from a prosocial, human-centered perspective and prioritizes the advancement of token engineering over short-term profits.

  • Integrity, curiosity, constructive inquiry, presence, and gratitude are foundational for maintaining mutual respect within our growing community.
  • We encourage our members to be radically open source, non-hierarchical, transparent in their intentions, and accountable for their actions.

How to Get Involved

We are constantly looking for ways to expand how the community can get involved. Here are some key ways in which you can start contributing:

1. Governance

The $TEC token is at the heart of our mission. By holding TEC tokens, you can vote on proposals to help shape the direction of the TEC as well as to have a greater impact on our grants program through Tunable Quadratic Funding (TQF).

2. TE Grants Programs

You can contribute to the TEC by submitting a project and generating impact through our grants programs. Our grants portal is the gateway to discovering opportunities to support innovative projects that align with our mission.
