Proposal Title: Token Model Framework
Proposal Information
We are proposing to develop an analytics framework that will be applied to analysing existing token systems to help us identify common patterns for the development of future token systems. This framework could be a TE building block that precedes the simulation phase in cadCAD. Similar to a business model canvas that served as a useful tool for Web2 business development, A token model framework could serve as an analytics framework for conceptualising Web3 based token systems.
Proposal Details:
One of the greatest challenges in TE is to identify how to design a token system. The Web3 community still lack best practices, analytic frameworks or a token modeling framework. While cadCad is a useful tool to simulate token economies, this tool could serve as a decision framework for how to model the tokenised economy i would like to simulate. The aim of this framework is to:
- Identify properties of tokens and their technical, legal, economic and ethical implications
- Develop and analytics framework to evaluate token system best practices
- Based on the outcome of this evaluation, mutual patterns of different token economic systems will be identified
- Develop a decision tree framework for conceptualising token systems.
The framework builds on prior research and publications such as:
Output Format:
- An analytics tool
- Analysis of token best practices in text format presented as a series of blog posts, maybe bundled into a book (under a creative commons licence)

Short bio
Apart from building BlockchainHub Berlin (First online educational community around blockchain & web3 relates topics) and the Research Institute for Cryptoeconomics in Vienna, I also wrote the book Token Economy which has received excellent reviews for making token economics and Web3 mechanisms accessible to a general audience. The book was published on Github under a CC licence in December 2020, and is now being translated by a group of 30 volunteers into 11 different languages which are also being published here (translations are a work in progress):
