TEC Claims Process: Final Results

As outlined in the TEC Shutdown Proposal, the claims process was established to provide eligible $TEC holders with the opportunity to claim their proportional share of the remaining treasury as part of the orderly wind-down of the Token Engineering Commons.

With the claims period now complete, this post summarizes the final participation results and the disposition of the remaining unclaimed treasury allocation.

The proposal also committed to a six-month notification period and an extensive outreach effort to maximize participation before the claims window closed.

Throughout this period, outreach remained a central priority. Announcements were shared across all official TEC communication channels, including Discord, Telegram, X, LinkedIn, and email. Beyond these public communications, we conducted extensive direct outreach through email and direct messages whenever possible, prioritizing outreach to the largest eligible holders while also working to identify and contact as many additional participants as possible. Additional manual research was also carried out to identify and contact holders of wallets that could not be readily linked to an individual.

To provide additional time for eligible participants, the claims window was also extended by one week beyond the original deadline of June 20th, 2026, ensuring that as many eligible token holders as possible had the opportunity to complete the process.

Results

The claims process has now concluded with 65.07% of the total eligible treasury allocation successfully claimed.

While 70 eligible wallet addresses ultimately submitted claims, the TEC token distribution was highly concentrated, with approximately 90% of the claimable allocation held by the top 100 eligible wallets. As a result, the percentage of the treasury successfully claimed provides a more representative measure of participation than the number of claiming addresses alone.

The final results are summarized below:

Metric Result
Eligible wallet addresses 724
Wallets that claimed 70 (9.67%)
TEC eligible for claims ~1,107,831 TEC
TEC used for claims ~720,865 TEC (65.07%)
DAI claimed 77,370.98 / 118,908.57 DAI (65.07%)
Remaining DAI 41,537.59 DAI
rETH claimed 21.4107 / 32.9053 rETH (65.07%)
Remaining rETH 11.4946 rETH

The claimed assets represent approximately $146,500 USD based on the value of each asset at the time individual claims were processed. Because claims occurred over multiple months and the market price of rETH changed during that period, this figure should be considered an approximate historical reference rather than a fixed valuation.

In accordance with the governance-approved shutdown process, the remaining unclaimed treasury allocation has been now transferred to Giveth, completing the final treasury distribution approved by the community and officially closing the TEC claims process.
