Mitch - TEC Rewards WG Steward: A role proposal story

Summary:

I have been facilitating the day-to-day operations of the Rewards System including managing the quantifiers, opening and closing quant rounds, doing community outreach for the rewards system, actively participating in testing, development, documentation and promotion of Praise and RAD basically since inception of the WG. I would like to keep fulfilling my role at the TEC as the Rewards WG Steward, outlining my commitments and expected compensation for the work I do to keep this show rolling.

Responsibilities and Deliverables:

  • Facilitate recurring Rewards WG calls
  • Facilitate recurring Quant Review calls
  • Present the Rewards WG during TEC community calls
  • Manage the Quantifier pool and Quantification Rounds
  • Promotion of Quant rounds and general catherding
  • Collaborate with Rewards WG contributors to continue to innovate the Rewards System in the TEC to improve quality and engagement
  • Participate in recurring Stewards sync calls
  • Housekeeping of the Reward Board DAO

~15 hours monthly of work

Compensation Details:

  • 500 DAI worth of TEC monthly, requested beginning the 1st of every month, beginning retroactively September 1st.
  • Funds paid from Reward Board Treasury
  • To be paid to: 0xc8d65e1bd67f16522e3117b980e1c9d2caeb9dc3

Iā€™d happily support this.

Quick questions:

  1. Isnā€™t this budget contemplated on the Rewards Board treasury budget?

  2. Does this have to go to vote? I believed every WG have freedom to allocate funds like the deem necessary.

  3. What time would you initially intend this will be for?

Assuming thereā€™s no advice I will go ahead with asking for payments on Oct. 1st collecting for both August and September in one DAO vote. I wonā€™t be pushing this to a community vote since we do have autonomy to manage our budget, this post is for transparency and advice process only.

If thereā€™s no push-back Iā€™ll assume people are okay with allocating this salary from the reward board treasury budget.

Nice! Thanks Mitch!

Hello everyone! Coming back to this since itā€™s been a while. I have to admit that the Rewards WG has not been as active as it once used to be.

I would like to make official the reduced scope and proposed compensation for this Steward Role. We will no longer:

  • Facilitate regular Rewards WG calls
  • Facilitate recurring Quant Review calls
  • Present during the CC (N/A)
  • Participate in Stewards sync calls (N/A)

Given this reduction of responsibilities and that we now only distribute rewards monthly I would anticipate that the work I do would only take me about 3 hours monthly so I will adjust compensation to 100 DAI worth of TEC monthly.

If anyone feels called to take on this role and take leadership of the Rewards WG they are welcome to take ownership, otherwise I will continue to run the WG in its minimal capacity.

Hey @divine_comedian. Iā€™m wondering if you wouldnā€™t mind providing the community with just a quick update on whatā€™s happening with Praise these days. The Coordination Team has moved into a bi-weekly Praise fest kind of rhythm.

I think it would be good if folks understood where things are headed next with Praise overall, and if thereā€™s any update on the Twitter Praise project, specifically. Is that still underway?

Yeah no problem,

We havenā€™t been doing much honestly, Iā€™ve been running the distributions fairly consistently at a monthly pace. Thereā€™s been no attendance at the quant review calls and very hard to coordinate anyone to attend our bi-weekly WG calls so I stopped planning them. Currently itā€™s myself, @0xNuggan and @Maxwe11 on the Reward Board DAO.

I have noticed more praise is being dished and its great to see the numbers go up!

Praise has been doing some cool stuff like AI generated bios and detailed analytics you can get straight from the app.

On the Praise Twitter Bot front I think the work has officially stopped on it. There wasnā€™t good progress on doing it as an open source add-on engineered by the TEC/Giveth so it was folded into the core Praise features and @kristoferlund was taking the role of lead developer. Unfortunately some professional issues arised between the Giveth dev and Praise team and work was ended.

AFAIK Praise received Mission funding from Optimism so they have to switch focus for now to meet their goals for their Optimism funding. We have not touched any of the 7k xDAI we set aside with the exception of reimbursements of costs I made out of pocket to pay for the twitter API for ~3 months while development of the bot was ongoing.
