I hope that this article raises some timely and important reflections on where Regenerative Finance (ReFi) is headed.
The intent of this article was to explore ReFi’s roots in ecological economics, systems thinking, and web3, while also naming some of the core challenges holding the movement back, like fragmentation, unclear metrics, and lack of aligned narratives.
Rather than just reading and nodding along, I’d love for us to use this space to continue the conversation. Here are a few questions to kick things off:
How can we define and measure regeneration in ways that are credible, transparent, and actually useful?
What does alignment look like across so many diverse ReFi projects, values, and communities?
Can blockchain truly enable regenerative systems, or are we just building new tools on the same old foundations?
How do we make sure ReFi doesn’t become another inaccessible or elite space?
What role should decentralized governance play in shaping this next chapter?
This movement is still being written, and it’s going to take all of us. So I’m curious: what resonates with you from the article? What’s missing? And where do you think we go from here?
